Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
Every parent wants care for their child that is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on what they truly need. Two new studies published in September 2026 offer a clearer look at why families bring kids to the chiropractor and how parents feel about their experience.
WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC
Investigators in Australia and Canada analyzed visits from 605 young people, age 17 and younger, treated by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for seeking care in each age group, showing that many parents see chiropractic as part of keeping their children healthy and on the move. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and adolescents accounted for nearly half of all visits. It's easy to see why: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and hours of screen time all put real demands on young spines.
PARENTS FEEL LISTENED TO AND RESPECTED
A second study tracked 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three areas of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the care and respect offered by the chiropractor and office staff. Overall, parents reported favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In other words, families felt listened to, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, which matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
