YOUR INFLUENCE ON BACK PAIN RELIEF IS STRONG
A positive mindset, sound
self-care, and pain-reducing treatment is a beneficial
mix for spine pain relief. Chiropractic combines
them all! A study that observed 740 chronic low back pain
patients for a year documented that those who maintained
their pain relief and reported an improved quality of
life were also highly certain that they could
still do activities regardless of
their pain. Those who experienced widespread pain and imagined their
pain as the worst ever from which they’d not
get over reduced their recovery outcome. Understanding
these issues, researchers and your Fort Wayne chiropractor
know that realistic expectations must be discussed and
understood for optimal, satisfactory clinical outcomes. (1) (For
example, 50% relief is good!) Complicating factors like poor sleep,
fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression may affect healing for
back pain and neck pain sufferers and must be addressed. We listen
thoroughly to and have discussions with our chiropractic patients
to manage issues as we move toward pain relief and a
better quality of life. We follow and disclose the 50% Rule of the
Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management that establishes
reasonable expectations for chiropractic pain relief: 50% relief within a month
or so of care without any signs of progressive neurological deficits or other
red flags is positive improvement. More
good news comes from a scoping review of papers about
spine-pain related factors that took note of how many issues
are adjustable: smoking, overweight/obesity, negative expectations
of recovery, work environment, nutrition, etc. (2) That’s where we
act together to maintain your positivity and confidence and create a solid
Fort Wayne chiropractic treatment plan for your pain relief!

Fort Wayne CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH:
Consider Inflammation: An Ear Infection/Hearing
Loss/Hip Fracture Risk Link
A recent study compared those with
chronic otitis media to those without. Researchers wondered if
chronic otitis media inflammation affected the body beyond its
ability to hear. They found that those with
chronic otitis media who had a history of hearing loss are more prone
to a increased risk of hip fracture. (3) Another study stated
that chronic otitis media was found to be significantly associated with a greater risk of developing ‘sudden sensorineural hearing
loss’ that comes on rapidly over a 3 day period.
This is often related to dizziness and
ringing in the ears, medicated with antibiotics, and accommodated
for with hearing aids or devices for any lasting hearing loss. (4,5)
We know inflammation is an enemy when managing Fort Wayne back pain and neck pain, and it is apparently an enemy
of ear pain and heightened hip fracture risk, too! Manage hearing issues and inflammation as they occur.
