Fort Wayne Back Pain Relief via Chiropractic Treatment Plan of Manipulation and Exercise

A new clinical trial is underway to study the effectiveness of a 6-week specific rehabilitation program blending education and exercises on walking capacity in those who have lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. Cox Chiropractic Medicine Inc knows these Fort Wayne spinal pain conditions quite well…and offers a relieving treatment plan of Cox® Technic spinal manipulation and mobilization with exercise!

EXERCISE PROGRAM FOR LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS TESTED

The aim of this preposed study is to investigate whether the addition of an exercise program to an educational program can enhance walking capacity in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. This is a randomized controlled clinical trial with 60 participants who will be randomly assigned to either the control group or the intervention group. The intervention group will receive an educational program plus an exercise program, while the control group will only get the educational program. The primary outcome measure is walking capacity, while the secondary outcome measures are pain intensity, disability level, and quality of life. (1)  Cox Chiropractic Medicine Inc knows our Fort Wayne spinal stenosis patients are very interested in these outcomes!

LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS WITH NEUROGENIC CLAUDICATION

Lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication is a spinal issue that produces narrowing of the spinal canal in the low back area, resulting in pressure on the nerves. This can lead to pain, numbness, and weakness in the legs and buttocks. In really bad cases, it can also cause difficulty walking. The condition is most common in people over the age of 50. These are just the folks in Fort Wayne who need to keep (or at least begin) exercising!

THE EXERCISES

The particular exercises that will be employed in this study are made to enhance walking capacity by stretching and strengthening the muscles surrounding the spine. The hope is that by doing these exercises regularly, patients will have less pain and disability and experience a better quality of life.

THE CONTROL GROUP

The control group in this trial will only receive an educational program about their condition and how to take care of it. While education is valuable, it is not typically enough on its own to deliver significant relief from symptoms. That is why the addition of an exercise program is so valuable. It includes the back pain sufferer in his or her relief! Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Michael McMurray on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson as he details The Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management for lumbar spinal stenosis.
