Cox Chiropractic Medicine Inc Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well
Your Fort Wayne chiropractor knows
your spine! Cox Chiropractic Medicine Inc understands anatomy. Back in
chiropractic school, your chiropractor learned much
about anatomy of the spine and applies that knowledge every day. Knowledge of the spine’s anatomy is always
at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck
pain, back pain patient walks through the door!
It is so exciting! (Aren’t you delighted
someone finds it exciting?)
LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL
When we were in school, we were
all guilty of learning only to pass an exam. When in professional school, such learning is more vital
than ever since it will affect everyday work. (How much
do you remember from your high school or college days?) An
international survey of chiropractors and anatomists described
that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy teaching
during chiropractic school was beneficial
for clinical practice, permitting better understanding,
application, and analysis of anatomical information to substantiate
a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian report
of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic
students. The chiropractic practitioners reported
that they knew their anatomy and demonstrated it in a test
showing their knowledge. This was compared
to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The
chiropractors demonstrated that they kept their
knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the thought
that chiropractic practitioners may not keep
it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is used
daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors know
their anatomy. (2) Your Fort Wayne chiropractor does! We’ll be happy to talk about it!
SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL
PRACTICE
Applying spinal manipulation every
day uses knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day.
The most common reasons people reported seeking chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and
extremity issues (10.0%). The typical treatment they received
were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal
patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get a great
deal of attention from chiropractic patients and their
chiropractors, of course! But positive side effects of
chiropractic care materialize in the medical literature as well
like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded,
randomized trial, researchers described the immediate effects
of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of patients with musculoskeletal pain (ie, back pain, spine pain,
neck pain, etc.). The researchers stated that musculoskeletal
pain intensified the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel
these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge
of the spine’s anatomy.
